Memoir features
A diary built around ownership
A private diary should make its boundaries easy to understand. Memoir keeps core writing local, offers optional encrypted sync to your own Google Drive, and tells you where a connection is still required.
01
Local-first writing
Write without a cloud dependency
Memoir stores diary data in a local SQLite database so writing and browsing core entries do not depend on a cloud connection.
Boundary: sync, maps, weather, and other network-backed actions still need a connection.
02
Encrypted cloud payloads
Encrypt before upload
Supported cloud-sync payloads are encrypted before upload with AES-256-GCM using key material derived with Argon2id.
Boundary: this describes supported cloud payloads. Memoir's local SQLite database is not SQLCipher-encrypted, and a lost password or recovery key cannot be recovered by Memoir.
03
Bring your own storage
Connect the Drive you control
Google Drive sync stores supported encrypted diary data in the connected user's own Drive rather than Memoir-operated diary storage.
Boundary: Google controls Drive availability and quota. Dropbox and OneDrive are not presented here as launched providers.
04
Across your devices
Web, Android, and iOS builds
Memoir has application builds for the web, Android, and iOS.
Boundary: having a build on each platform does not itself mean that entries sync automatically. Cross-device continuity depends on a configured cloud connection.
Your next step
Start locally, connect storage when you choose
