Google Drive backup
Back up to the Drive you control
Memoir's cloud model is bring-your-own-storage: local use comes first, and Google Drive sync is an optional connection to an account you authorize.
Storage ownership
Your account is the destination
Google Drive sync stores supported encrypted diary data in the connected user's own Drive rather than Memoir-operated diary storage.
Memoir does not operate a general-purpose diary-content cloud for this flow. Google controls the Drive service, account access, quota, and availability; you control whether to connect or revoke it.
Before upload
Supported sync payloads are encrypted
Supported cloud-sync payloads are encrypted before upload with AES-256-GCM using key material derived with Argon2id.
- 1. Authorize
- You choose a Google account and grant the access requested by the app.
- 2. Encrypt
- Memoir encrypts supported sync payloads before upload.
- 3. Store
- The encrypted data is written to the Drive account you connected.
- 4. Restore
- A future restore still requires the correct recovery material and access to that Drive.
Current providers
Google Drive is the launched path
Google Drive is Memoir's active cloud provider; Dropbox and OneDrive are not launched options.
Source-code foundations or “coming soon” labels are not availability promises. This site deliberately does not present Dropbox or OneDrive as connectable options.
Next step
Protect recovery material before connecting
Set up Memoir's security and recovery flow, then test your own backup and restore with non-critical content.
