Voice journaling

Speak a draft, review every word

Memoir treats speech as a draft, not an automatic diary entry. Where verified local transcription is available, you can speak, inspect the result, edit it, and decide whether anything is saved.

Review before save

Your transcript stays a draft

On supported devices, Memoir can turn locally transcribed speech into an editable draft that the user reviews before saving.

Capture
Start dictation only after microphone and local-transcription availability checks.
Review
Read and edit the transcript before it becomes entry text.
Choose
Apply the reviewed words, try again, continue manually, or discard the capture.
Save
Only the reviewed result becomes a diary entry when you confirm it.

Privacy boundary

No remote transcription fallback

The current feature allows only verified local transcription. Memoir does not silently send a recording or transcript to a Memoir-operated or third-party transcription service when local capability is unavailable.

Still a local-first diary

Typing always remains available

Memoir stores diary data in a local SQLite database so writing and browsing core entries do not depend on a cloud connection.

Voice capture is an optional input method. It does not turn the public site into a recording service, require a cloud account, or remove the normal editor. If dictation cannot run, you can continue with a typed entry.

Availability is determined by the app and device at the moment you start dictation; this page does not request microphone access.
